IT Provider Joins Ranks of Pro-Cybersecurity Organizations in Yearly Campaign
October 7 2024: RESULTS Technology has announced their Championship for Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2024. Every October since 2004, companies, government agencies, and more commit to do their part to educate others on online safety. Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a yearly initiative by Stay Safe Online with the goal of promoting best practices for cybersecurity.
“We love participating in this campaign every year,” said RESULTS Technology President Patrick Murphy. “It can really help both individuals and businesses to be more aware of their online safety.”
As technology becomes more and more entangled with our everyday lives, there are always new advancements in technology and – more importantly – cybercrime. There are bad actors working around the clock to invent new methods to access your data and disrupt your life. Cybersecurity Awareness Month exists to highlight these new methods and the ways that individuals and businesses can combat them to make the internet a safe and secure place for everyone.
This year, the Cybersecurity Awareness Month’s campaign focuses on the top four ways to stay safe online:
- Recognize and report phishing – even today, this remains a prominent strategy utilized by cybercriminals.
- Use strong passwords and a password manager – it might sound like a no-brainer, but repeated or weak passwords can be a gaping hole in your security.
- Turn on multi-factor authentication – this precaution will only add a few seconds to your login process, but it will make it extremely difficult for cybercriminals to access your accounts.
- Update software – Keeping your software updated will ensure you have the best security available, not to mention getting you access to the latest features and upgrades.
This is the 21st year of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and it’s still doing an excellent job bringing awareness to cybersecurity issues that everyone should know about.
